Garrapilos to host a new Eventing fixture and the 1st Carriage Driving Obstacle Trial this Saturday
On Saturday 30 May 2026, the Garrapilos Training and Competition Centre and the Cortijo de Garrapilos will bring together two major fixtures on the Andalusian equestrian calendar.
Equestrian activity in Jerez keeps up its pace after the Horse Fair with a packed day scheduled for this Saturday, 30 May, at Garrapilos. The programme brings together two different yet complementary events: a new Eventing (CCE) fixture and the 1st Carriage Driving Obstacle Trial, held to mark Armed Forces Day 2026.
Garrapilos to host a new Eventing fixture this Saturday
On Saturday 30 May 2026, the Garrapilos Training and Competition Centre will be the setting for an intense day of Eventing (CCE), bringing together in a single competition regional and national classes for horses of various ages, as well as young horse and pony categories.
Competition will get under way first thing in the morning with the dressage phase, followed by the show jumping test and ending with the ever-spectacular cross-country, one of the most exciting and demanding phases of Eventing.
The programme will include the CCN 1* 100-80-60, CCNCJ 1* 100-80-60, CCT 1* 100-80-60, CCTCJ 1* 100-80-60 and CNCP1 categories.
The fixture will also count towards the Final of the Young Horse Eventing Series, whose grand final will shortly be held at the Parque del Alamillo in Seville.
The ground jury will be made up of Juan Carlos Torralba and José Ramón Fernández Villegas, while the cross-country course design and show jumping arena management will be in the hands of Juan Pedro Colucho, a regular reference in the discipline.
The organisers expect to welcome riders from across Andalusia and the national scene to a day combining sport, training and equestrian spectacle at facilities ready to host a competition of the highest level.
Eventing continues to establish itself as one of the most complete and appealing disciplines on the equestrian calendar, combining technique, stamina and the partnership between horse and rider across three very different tests held on the same day.
Garrapilos hosts the 1st Carriage Driving Obstacle Trial for Armed Forces Day 2026 this Saturday
On Saturday 30 May, from 11:00 am, the Cortijo de Garrapilos in La Barca de la Florida will host the 1st Carriage Driving Obstacle Trial "Armed Forces Day 2026", a competition organised by the Jerez Military Horse Breeding Centre that will bring together some of the finest drivers in the discipline.
After the traditional atmosphere of the Jerez Horse Fair, with its pleasure carriages — breaks, phaetons, landaus and milords — equestrian activity gives way to an entirely different discipline: marathon carriages. Here speed, precision between the cones and the race against the clock define the spectacle, offering the public a thrilling display of skill, teamwork and adrenaline.
The top drivers in the discipline will gather at Garrapilos to contest this obstacle trial, included in the Andalusian Equestrian Federation calendar and organised by the Jerez Military Horse Breeding Centre (Jerez Military Stud Farm).
The trial offers the chance to enjoy one of the most dynamic and spectacular disciplines in the world of carriage driving, in which horse, driver and groom must show perfect coordination to complete the course with as few penalties as possible.
Admission is free of charge. The competition begins at 11:00 am at the Cortijo de Garrapilos, in La Barca de la Florida, and all horse lovers and equestrian sport enthusiasts are invited to enjoy a different kind of day out in a privileged setting.
