Jerez hosts today the first day of competition of the 7th World Championship of Working Equitation
Jerez de la Frontera, 9 September 2026. The 7th World Championship of Working Equitation faces today its first day of competition, with the start of the Dressage phase at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art.
The 7th World Championship of Working Equitation faces today, Wednesday 9 September, its first day of competition in Jerez de la Frontera, with the start of the Dressage phase, which will bring together riders from different countries.
Working Equitation is an equestrian discipline that emerges from the techniques traditionally used by riders and horses in field work and cattle handling. Its practice tests the functionality, preparation and understanding between horse and rider, combining tradition and top-level sport.
The competition unfolds over four trials: Dressage, Ease of Handling, Speed and Cattle Work, in which qualities such as precision, obedience, agility, speed and the ability of horse and rider to cope with situations inspired by traditional equestrian work are assessed.
Today's activity will begin at 8:00 am with the opening of the warm-up arena for competitors. From 9:00 am the Dressage phase will start, with a total of 67 riders entered, split between Wednesday and Thursday.
Today's schedule foresees the participation of 45 horse-and-rider combinations, while the remaining 22 will compete tomorrow Thursday.
The day will conclude with a further opening of the warm-up arena, scheduled between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm, ahead of the continuation of the competition.
The staging of this World Championship, whose venue is the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, once again places Jerez at the centre of international equestrian news and reinforces its bond with the horse and with the main equestrian disciplines.
