The King's Cup of Doma Vaquera opens in Jerez with its first winners

Jerez de la Frontera, 18 September 2026. The opening day of the 20th H.M. The King's Cup crowned the first winners in the young horse classes, Intermediate, Young Riders and Juniors 1*.

The 20th H.M. The King's Cup of Doma Vaquera got its sporting programme under way on Thursday 17 September at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, with an opening day that already produced the competition's first names to remember.

In 4-year-old horses, victory went to Álvaro Garrido Millán on Tanqueray, with an average of 73.175%. Alejandro Espinosa Aguilera, on Lucía de Coleto, was second (70.238%), while Juan Candón Piñero and Campanilla took third place (69.445%).

The 5-year-old horses class was led by Carlos Jiménez Pineda on Mara II, who scored 75.486%, the highest mark among the winners of the day. Miguel Ángel Alconchel Cuevas, on Reconte OC, was second (72.014%) and Juan Manuel Avilés Sánchez, on Morante AS, third (71.250%).

In 6-year-old horses, Rafael Cabra Bonilla and Cinco 1 won with 73.958%. Francisco Alba Moya, on Quinta SR3, finished second (68.437%) and José Antonio Fraile García, on Bombay PR, third (68.333%).

The Intermediate class was very close at the top. Alfonso Martín Díaz, on Listo Jac, took the win with 73.809%, ahead of Alejandro Trujillo Camacho and Pibe La Lapilla (73.524%). Manuel Vargas Lepe, on Majarillo, completed the top three with 70.952%.

In Young Riders, first place went to David Bueno González on Panerai de Sta Fe, with 73.796%. José Ángel Sánchez Liañez, on Llera, was second (71.389%) and Álvaro Castilla Diago, on Lavanco CD, third (71.297%).

In Juniors 1*, Mario Gómez Espacio and Farolillo 99 topped the standings with 73.698%. Sergio Carrasco María, on Rociera MCM, took second place (72.240%) and Pablo Holgado Cuesta, on Bombon AR, was third (72.083%).

The competition continues on Friday 18 September in Jerez with new classes and the start of the eagerly awaited Open (Absoluta) category, over a weekend in which doma vaquera once again takes place at one of the city's great equestrian landmarks.

Jerez Ciudad del Caballo will keep following each day of the competition and its protagonists.
